Treatment

I offer a full range of psychotherapy treatments and specialized trauma therapy considering the unique needs and goals of each client. My services focus on the treatments that lead to effective, rapid results that improve the functioning of the neural pathways of the brain and permanently heal the root of trauma issues without depending on psychotropic drugs.

The field of psychotherapy has a diverse range of methods and schools of thought. Although some issues can be resolved with almost any approach, others require a specialized approach such as EMDR or Brainspotting. I will work directly with you to develop a customized treatment plan that is effective, healing and attainable.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)

EMDR uses rapid eye movement and recollection of traumatic experiences to heal the symptoms of distress. Adult, adolescent, and child survivors of single and multiple incident traumas have responded positively to EMDR treatment.

I have been certified in EMDR for over 20 years. It is a useful modality for single incident trauma and assists in the healing of TBI, (traumatic head injury).
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective psychotherapy approach primarily used for treating Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related conditions.
EMDR is based on the Adaptive Information Processing model, which suggests that trauma disrupts the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate experiences. The bilateral stimulation in EMDR may help restart this processing mechanism. EMDR has demonstrated high efficacy in treating PTSD and has been recognized by several organizations:
  • The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends EMDR as a treatment for PTSD
  • It has obtained the highest level of efficiency for PTSD treatment in randomized control trials
  • EMDR therapy can often accomplish more in 4-6 months of weekly sessions than years of traditional talk therapy

The therapy has also shown promise in treating other conditions where traumatic experiences play a role, such as anxiety, depression, and phobias

Developed by Francine Shapiro in 1989, EMDR has gained significant recognition and validation in the field of mental health.
